Andreas the Adventurer

My brother and his wife have been together for 18 years, since he was 18 and she was 16.They are the one couple in this big,bad world that I know will never part, because no matter what they've been through together (and trust me,they've been through a lot) they still remain each others' best friends, and are still all lovey-dovey,like when they first started dating.

Anywhoo,Friday 27 February,is their 10 year wedding anniversary, and since they are the parents of two very, lovely and lively boys, they asked my mom if they could send them to her place for the weekend so that they could have a relaxing, and most importantly,child-free anniversary weekend.Of course my mom said yes,and even though I won't be here this weekend,I will be able to see the boys for a little while on Friday.Andreas (whose 5,and the eldest) told his mom yesterday that he's only going to school for the Wednesday and then he's going to Grandma J's house,if he has to climb on his bicycly and ride there himself.Freaking cute!

{Here are some of my nephew's adventures}

No,YOU'RE Fabulous!

Ruggy13 bestowed upon me this award, and I have to say I'm really flattered, because getting awards from bloggers that I look up to so much and whose lives and writings I enjoy so incredibly,is a big honor.

Babies for Sale

{Not the baby in the article}

I saw this article this morning, and it kind of freaked me out.

A young woman in India was forced to sell her newborn baby,in order to pay the medical expenses she had following the birth of the baby. It's really sad that medical aid is so expensive in today's society, that people have to sell of their own flesh and blood to be able to afford it.She sold the baby to a man for 6000 rupees. He and his wife are seemingly unable to have children of their own.

This is where the dilemma comes in for me.I would never sell my own child, but I sometimes think that certain countries make adoption by people outside of that country extremely difficult to do,which doesn't benefit anybody, much less the children that need loving homes to go to.

Like this baby. The baby has now been reunited with its mother, because the welfare wants her to breastfeed.Like that is reason alone to have this child grow up dirt poor, seeing as the mom admitted she has no way of caring for the baby.

I believe that baby would've been better off with the man and woman who are childless, who were willing to part with their hard earned money to have this baby, and are probably in a much better position to take care of the baby.

What do you think?

THIS I love

Zané and Nico enjoying the bit of cooler weather. She's trying to teach him how to ride his bike

These are all pictures of what the sky looked like yesterday afternoon at 5:30 when I was walking home after work.Thunder clouds were coming in,and by 9pm last night, heavy raindrops had started falling. It must've drizzled through most of the night, because you could see some waterpools in the streets this morning, even though it was 24 degrees celsius last night (yes!at night!).

Wednesday Weirdness

1.) You're on a trip taking a tour through the jungle. You have a backpack with some food, some first aid supplies, a pocket knife, a flashlight and a couple bottles of water. Some how, you get separated from your group. By night fall you haven't found your group and haven't heard them looking for you. How long do you think you would be able to survive on your own?

Maximum a week, because I would probably freak the hell out by day 7 and jump off a cliff somewhere.I don't do well on my own.

2.) Do you think it's okay to lie to spare someone's feelings? Why?

Yes,in some cases.I don't see any need to hurt someone's feelings for no reason. The world is tough enough as it is.

3.) If a talking (insert your name here) doll were made, what are THREE phrases it would say?

"Fuck!"
"I told you not to do that"
"I don't want to!"

4.) If the super power to be able to read minds at your own will were possible, do you think it would be... cool and helpful, intrusive and wrong, manipulative or maddening? Explain why you would or wouldn't want to be able to read anyone's mind at your own will.

I would find it cool and helpful. It's not like in 'Bruce Almighty' where Bruce randomly hears all the prayers and it drives him crazy. No,here you have the power to read it at your own will,so you have the choice to listen or not.I'm mad already and also tend to be a bit intrusive too,so reading minds wouldn't be such a stretch anyway.

5.) Drunk confessions, are they the things people can't bring themselves to say sober or just crazy ramblings of an influenced and intoxicated mind?

I have always believed that the things that people say when their drunk,is the truth they don't usually have the guts to say.I know that is true about me.Alcohol takes away rational thinking,so that's why we tend to be the exact opposite of our usual selves when we're drunk.I like it.

6.) What brings out the worst in you?

When someone doesn't want to listen to my point of view.It makes me so damn mad,I feel like my head will explode!

7.) Do you think long distance relationships work? Have you ever been in one before?

I have never been in one.I would personally never be able to have a long distance relationship, because I crave daily human contact with my love, and I am also a jealous bitch (the first step is admitting you have a problem ~ don't judge me) so I would go crazy thinking up all kinds of weird cheating scenarios. It wouldn't work for me,at all.

If you like honesty,I suggest you go here

I started reading Evil Beet Gossip in about September 2008,and immediately took a huge liking to the celebrity gossip as told by the head writer Evil Beet (a.k.a. Sasha Pasulka).I liked it so much, that I eventually started reading Sasha's personal blog as well, and really enjoyed reading about her adventures in real life (sometimes even more than the celeb gossip!)

And then there came a time when Evil Beet decided to get a little help with the writing, because let's face it,there's a lot of gossip to write about, and it's a very competitive area to work in,because you always kind of have to try and be faster and funnier than the other gossip bloggers.

In comes Wendie Tobin, who I,immediately after being 'introduced' to on the Evil Beet Gossip site, befriended on Facebook, and makes the site even better. She is an awesome writer, and has the type of sarcastic, dry yet stomach-burstingly funny humor that I love. She talks about her family, past and everyday life on her personal blog,Well Honestly Now,and trust me,it is one of the best personal blogs out there, because she tackles all the topics with brutal (and often hilarious) honesty.

I'm rambling now,but I do have a point.I have nominated Wendie for the 2009 Blogger's Choice Awards. Please go here to vote for her,and show her some lovin'.

Some very late Oscar commentary {skip if you're tired of this stuff already}

I didn't get to watch the Oscars, seeing as America is like 10 hours behind us and I was fast asleep at the time it took place. So everything I've heard about it,is purely hearsay, and I have to say,the bloggers I follow all have a very varied opinion of what went down.

{Here are some of the dresses others have commented on,and what I think of them}

There's only one thing I can say about this look.BORING!This is supposed to be the goddess, the sex symbol, the woman every man wants to get with and every woman wants to be.Why the hell is she dressed the same at every event?Obviously not exactly, but damn near close. Now I know she is still super pretty and everything, but that doesn't mean she can't shake things up a little every now and then. That's what she's always been good at.Guess the kids have made her more 'beige' than 'fire red' (colors = personality).

I actually really like this dress on Marissa Tomei. It's plain and simple, yet stands out,and seems kind of dramatic, although it is kind of channeling Peter Pan for some reason.I like her hair too,I would wear my hair like that all the time if I had a personal hair stylist. It looks so fancy.

Natalie Portman is obviously a gorgeous creature and she would look like a million $$$ in just about anything, but I think this dress is a bit princessy (a little too much pink). She has the looks and definitely the body to pull of a much riskier look.

I've read some blogs where people are saying they absolutely hate the dress of Amy Adams.I personally LOVE it!I'm always backward with these things.I love the style of the dress, although I don't like the black detailing on the bodice. Her hair and make up is to die for,and the necklace is a stunning compliment to the color of the dress.

Three of the biggest doozies of the night,in my opinion.

1. Jessica Biel ~ she is hot, that much is true, but that doesn't mean she can just wrap her silk sheets around her,put on some make up and go to the Oscars.it just doesn't work that way.

2. BeyoncĂ© ~ hideosity beyond hideosity. She looks like she's wearing a very ancient Chinese vase and the way she always poses makes it look like she got stuck that way and can't move for fear she will break into a million pieces.

3. Miley Cyrus ~ The style of the dress is actually very pretty...on someone 20 years her senior, and the material should look less like the sushi you had for lunch.

A good Tuesday...so far

{Here's why}

~ I found out one of my best friends and her hubby are moving into a house that's only about 3 houses down from our apartment!I am super excited, because A and I used to be really close, and would party all the time, along with my sister (who was originally A's friend). We would go out during the week and then spend the next night moaning to each other about our hangovers. It was awesome!Anyhow, she got married 3 years ago, moved away, and we probably only saw each other like,4 times in the whole time since then. She called me yesterday with the news, and I have to say,it was the best birthday present I could've asked for.

~ My best friend,L,sent me a lovely letter and the most adorable (and super comfy) winter socks for my birthday.
She knows me too well, because my old slippers have finally gotten the boot, and come winter time,my feet are always freezing,so this is the perfect present for me.I didn't know I was getting anything,so when I got this package,it was a very fun little surprise. She's the BEST!

~ My boss told me yesterday, that since I worked so hard this past weekend (which was my birthday weekend,of course),they've decided that I should have this Friday off.Can you believe it?It's awesome!

~ Only 4 more days until we go away for the weekend. We are renting a caravan for our stay by the seaside, which is so great, because I love anything to do with a caravan.I don't know why, maybe I have some gypsey blood in me.

So there, like I said,a very good Tuesday so far.

Some more Flickr for me please

I never bothered going onto sites like Flickr or Photobucket, but I've recently started getting quite obsessed with Flickr.I am a picture stalker, especially of other people's homes.I just love seeing how people decorate their homes and how they make their private spaces special (that sounded kind of dirty,it wasn't meant to be).

Here are a few of the places I've found on Flickr, and just love to death. If only I had the creativity to do things like this to my place.Alas,I'm creatively challenged. There should really be some sort of organisation for that, since everything seems to have an organisation these days.

A Maya Photoshoot

Adorableness, brought to you by Maya (who,by the way,is an extremely unwilling model. It takes forever to get a decent picture of her that does not only show her behind running away from me.She also loves showing her tongue to the camera. And getting up close and personal with the shiny silver camera - which leads to the blurryness as seen above. Also she's all black, and anybody who has an all-black kitty will surely agree with me ~ they are not easy to photograph. If she closes her eyes,it's hard to make out which is her back side and which is her front.)

This is what the ego needs on a Monday morning

La Belette Rouge, the elegant and wise blogger and doggie mommy, thought it fit to bestow me with an award.I can't tell you how awesome that is.

I was going to tag some blogs that I heart, but I heart all the blogs I follow, and the list is pretty long,so I'm just going to say to them all ~ I HEART YOU!

February 22

Was my birthday!I had a very quiet, relaxing day, only going out of the apartment to have lunch at my mom's house. She made the most delicious lasagne (which I had 2 plates of) and a peppermint crisp desert (which was totally delicious,as always).

They even laid a pretty table for me.

I got some presents - mostly thing I can use around the apartment, which is great, because I'm usually too cheap to buy these things myself. After lunch JC and I went back to the apartment, and started watching some old movie.I really wanted to sit with him and cuddle, and watch the movie, but after the HUGE lunch I'd just had,all I wanted to do,was take a long nap (in my defence,I had been up since 6:30am - couldn't sleep again once I was awake).

I slept for about 2 hours, and after that I decided to eat some more!

So yeah, that's basically how I spent my birthday ~ eating and sleeping. So,basically,I spent it just the way I wanted to.JC and I are going to a small beach town this weekend,so that will be my real birthday weekend, seeing as I had to work on the actual weekend.I can't wait to go to the beach, with a little cool weather.Heaven!

The lovable Lulubelle

I just had to share this pic of my kitty Lulubelle (who now lives with her Grandma J) sleeping in her very *comfortable* position.I guess she was busy down there, and just decided to take a nap.

And as a side note, here is Mattewis,a loner cat that has adopted the car dealership where I work,as home.My boss buys her the most expensive cat food, and dotes on her all the time. She basically lives in his office (he even has a little cat bed in there for her). This was one night after work,I was walking past my work place, and I saw Mattewis guarding the offices.I swear she's half dog somehow.

The no-make up look

I've been thinking about this for a bit,and I've come to the simple conclusion that I would rather be one of those people who hardly ever wears make up,and when I do,people act like I've discoverd the wheel or something. As opposed to being one of those people who always wears so much make up that on the off chance you catch them without make up,they basically look like someone with a terminal illness or the Ghost of Christmas Past.

I started thinking about this because since it's been so very hot here the last couple of weeks,I haven't really put on any make up at all ~ you literally sweat it all of within half an hour of leaving the house,so it's useless to waste your expensive (or in my case, dirt cheap) make up like that.So now I only put on a little concealer under my eyes (for those extremely persistent dark circles) and a bit of mascara (otherwise I look like a lab rat ~ one of those big white lab rats ~ so not a good look).

I really don't care what people think, the less make up look is much more comfortable in this heat, because if I put on too much make up and sweat so much after that,I tend to get a few zits, which is a definite no-no for me.Otherwise my skin is quite clear, and gosh golly,I wana keep it that way.

Come winter time I'll pile on the beautifying war paint again. But for now the mask will have to stay hidden. And I'm not missing it one bit.

{See?I'd rather be the left side most of the time,so people can get used to it,rather than be the right side most of the time,and freak people the hell out when they see me looking like the left side}

I'm loved...sort of

The awesome Ruggy gave me the Love Ya Award, which really made my day.It really makes you feel special to know someone chose you for something like this, out of all the amazing blogs there are to choose from. Thanks Ruggy!

Questions about My Love

Everyone and their uncle has done these questions, but now it's my turn.I stole them from Blogged Bliss.

How long have you been together?
We’ve been together for 3 years and 3 months.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
About 7 years. He used to date my best friend when she and I were still in high school.

Who asked whom out?
We both sort of drunkflirted with each other.I made it very easy for him.One night at the club where he was a barman at the time,I spotted him on the dancefloor, grabbed him and said “Why don’t you come over to my place when you’re done with work?”.I had said this to him many times before,he never took me up on the ‘offer’.That night he did,and the rest is history.

How old are each of you?
I’m 25 (turning 26 on Sunday) and he is 30.

Whose siblings do you see the most?
Mine, but only my one sister, because she lives in the same town as us.Otherwise we see his sisters more often.

Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
Our debt.At least,my boyfriends’ debt.We basically can’t really start our lives until that is all paid off, because I don’t want to keep on making more debt,so I refuse to get married until we are in the clear.

Did you go to the same school?
Nope.

Are you from the same home town?
He moved to my home town when he was 13.I’ve lived here my whole life.

Who is smarter?
I think that we are pretty equal, but if I have to be honest,I think he is.Especially when it comes to math and science.I’m better with useless facts.

Who is the most sensitive?
I am definitely. He is about as sensitive as a dull needle.

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
We don’t eat out.My boyfriend is not a big eater (he only eats about one meal a day) and prefers home made food. But if we do,we go to this local restaurant just around the corner from us,for pizza.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
LOL,not very far,only about 2 hours from home.What can I say?We’re house bunnies.

Who has the craziest exes?
I don’t really know many of his exes, but I would have to guess his, because he was my first real boyfriend, and he has dated quite a plethora of interesting characters.

Who has the worst temper?
I think my boyfriend does, because he tends to be passive aggressive, and holds everything in,then explodes when he is really mad.I let my anger and stuff out whenever I feel it,so I don’t get too worked up.

Who does the cooking?
I do mostly. My boyfriend can only do chicken and chips or burgers. So I mostly make the food, otherwise I would only get to eat chicken and chips or burgers, ever.

Who is the neat-freak?
Neither one of us is a neat freak, although I don’t like things to be dirty. If you make a mess, you clean it up immediately. My boyfriend doesn’t get this.

Who is more stubborn?
Definitely JC!If he says no,he means no,and there is absolutely NO way to change his mind,at all.

Who hogs the bed?
I do.I like to lie spread eagled on my stomach.I also like to roll myself up in the duvet.Luckily JC is very thin,so he doesn’t need a lot of space anyway.

Who wakes up earlier?
I usually do.Unfortunately.

Where was your first date?
In my bedroom.”wink,wink”

Who is more jealous?
I am.But I wouldn’t get all psycho about it,so long as JC doesn’t compare me to any of his exes,I hate that.

How long did it take to get serious?
After about a year of being ‘friends with benefits’,we became increasingly serious about each other, although we were monogamous the whole time anyway.

Who eats more?
I do,by far.Like I said,he only eats about one meal a day (mostly dinner) and he hardly ever eats seconds. He also doesn’t eat anything sweet. He truly only eats if he is really hungry.Whereas I will eat anything and everything in my path, given the chance.

Who does the laundry?
We both do.He sorts the clothes and puts it in the machine and then I hang it up and take it down and pack it away again.

Who's better with the computer?
Me,although I’m not that good,at all.He however,can’t even type.

Who drives when you are together?
Well,I can’t drive,so JC drives ALL the time.

This is totally me!

I've talked before about not yet having a drivers' lisence, and how nervous I am behind the wheel of a car.And how much I actually despise driving. Also how I don't think I will ever get my drivers' permit.

Well,I might have added a few things, but things like this, don't give me a lot of hope.

I can completely sympathise with this lady. She is me,only older...and South Korean.

Already a basket case

Worst Jobs in the World

My boss and I were talking about horrible jobs this morning, and then my bestie,L,and I chatted about her crappy job and how much she would love to stick the job up her boss' ass,and just quit. But like everyone, she really needs the money,so she just has to stick it out.Either way,she has a pretty cushy job,as do I.Boring, but cushy. No real complaints from my side about my job, except for the previously mentioned office-bitch.

But how we got to the horrible jobs subject is kind of gross. My boss was at the garage last night, because the funeral director from a neighbouring towns' vehicle broke down, and he had to bring it into the garage so the mechanics could repare it today. So while my boss and the funeral director were waiting for the fd's son to come and get him,my boss discovered that the fd had a dead body in the back of his vehicle. This was a woman who had died yesterday afternoon of natural causes, and he was on his way to take her to his funeral home to get her ready for her funeral.Obviously my boss was a bit grossed out by this. When the fd's son arrived, they asked my boss to help move the body, seeing as she was dead weight now (so to speak) and was extra heavy. He kindly refused (as I would have done too). She was only wrapped in a duvet and tied with ropes (God knows why).

After this 'ordeal',my boss told me he started asking the fd some questions about his job.The fd told him he was having so much trouble with a certain customer. This woman's son committed suicide in January 2008,by shooting himself in the head. She is now refusing to pay him his money, because she feels that he didn't do a good enough job repairing her sons' eyes. She feels it's not the same colour as before.Well,OBVIOUSLY!He shot himself in the head!

This gross little story got me thinking that out of all the gross, horrific jobs in the world, working with dead people (or animals for that matter) would be my idea of the worst job ever. The idea of having to put human parts together again, going to accident sites and recovering the different body pieces, all these things make me want to puke up my lunch.

I have major respect for funeral directors, coroners, doctors, vets, etc. They all do a job that most of us are just not cut out for, either emotionally, physically or both.

The cuteness factor just shot through the roof

Too freaking cute!

Kingsford Goes to the Beach - Funny blooper videos are here
I want one of these ~ NOW!

Wednesday Weirdness

1. What is the most exciting part of a sexual encounter for you?

The foreplay. And the look on my boyfriends' face when he's about to 'deploy his soldiers'.That is the coolest.

2. What is your favorite way to relax after sex?

Maybe smoking a cigarette, and having my boyfriend tell me how incredible I was.

3. Do you find sex with someone you have emotional attachment with to be better than casual fucking with someone you don't have emotional attachment with?

Definitely, the former. It takes time for a guy to figure out what makes a woman tick, and it takes time for a woman to get comfortable with a man.So when you are together longer, and thus more emotionally attached, your body responds better.I think.

4. What was the last really horrible movie you watched? (At home, theater, etc)

Oh gosh,so many to choose from,my mind is working overtime here.I guess the dvd of "Hellboy 2".It sucked balls, because I actually really liked number one,and this one disappointed so badly,I sure as hell hope they don't bring out a number 3.

5. What are 3 things someone could do or say during foreplay that would kill the mood for you?

Basically anything negative about my body (things in the line of "Are you wearing tights,or have you just not shaven yet?") I perform much better when being overly-complimented during sex.

6. Where do you think the best place to buy sexy lingerie is? Why?

I don't actually see the need for sexy lingerie. All the men I know prefer their women naked as the day they were born.Lingerie just tends to baffle men (when they have to be taken off) and get in the way.

7. Do you think how a person dances gives you a glimpse to how they perform in bed?

NO!My boyfriend can't dance for shit.I mean it,he looks like he's having a seizure of some sort whenever he dances, but when it comes to sex,he knows exactly what to do.

8. When was the last time you got served breakfast in bed?

Probably about 6 months ago,by my sister of all people. My boyfriend doesn't eat breakfast, and therefor tends to 'forget' that I do.Very convenient.

The hilariousness that is Dlisted

As witnessed in my previous post,I am not at all in a great mood, for explainable and some unexplainable reasons. But I just went to read a bit of Dlisted-goodness,and as always,Michael made me laugh so hard, that tears actually came down my face and snot out of my nose. His humour is sometimes a little crude, rude and just plain dirty, and that's why I love his site!

If any of you haven't yet visited Dlisted,do yourself a favor,DO IT!

It's a terrible Tuesday,a.k.a. worthless post

Everything at work is irritating me these days, and I hate it!It's not like I don't enjoy my job,I do,and I LOVE my bosses, they're really great. But this superbitch I work with,is really getting to me,again.

But I'll spare you another rant about her.Something else is weirding me out and causing me irritation during daytime.I have a phone stalker.Or at least I think I do.Some asshole is calling me at night, sometimes at ungodly hours like 2am or 4am,with a private number, waking me up every time. And once I'm awake its virtually impossible for me to get to sleep again within about an hour.So my sleep is completely wrecked.I've put my cellphone (which I use as alarm in the morning as well) on silent, but I don't really want to do that, because what if my mom or someone I love has some sort of emergency, and I don't pick up because of this asshole?

Also,I'm still getting ready for our big end-of-year stocktake this weekend, and the idea of working on Friday night, and on Saturday, when Sunday is my birthday,is really getting to me.I don't understand why though, but it is.I just want to get it over with and let it be the 27th so that I can go away with JC for the weekend. That is,honest to God,the only thought that is keeping me sane right now.Because my overactively insane brain is thinking up a lot of crap and making me even more irritated.

I am weird.I wish I could just stop thinking some times, because its going to get me in a lot of unneeded crap someday.

Postsecret Monday

I'm so saddened by this secret.I visit my dad's grave at least once a month, and don't know how I would feel if my relationship with him was like this person's

I know that I would stay with my boyfriend no matter what, because he would do that for me

This one is super funny, and might as well have been sent by me!

This gives me hope for relationships!

This is the freaking cutest thing!I can just imagine what a cute couple these two are

More secrets to be found on Postsecret, every Monday. These are just some of my favorites.

Thinking of my Dad

This is the way I remember my dad.Reading a book on the porch, listening to FM radio, with one or another cat keeping him company. This particular kitty is Poena, who, much to my dad (and my) sadness, died a few months later. So did my dad
