Whazzup?It's weekend!

Basic plans for the weekend:
1.Eat too much
2.Talk too much
3.Sleep too little
4.Play with my nephew so his mother has trouble putting him to sleep
5.Make a chicken potjie and rice (yummy!)
6.Start reading my new book

And if,somewhere in my hectic schedule I get the time,I guess I'll have to clean the apartment again, although I have no problem living in some degree of filth.I wasn't born in the Chinese year of the Pig for nothing, you know.

Have a great weekend everyone, and stay safe!

Thought for the weekend

If fire fighters fight fires and crime fighters fight crime, what do freedom fighters fight?

Devils' Spawn (otherwise known as my nephew)

This is just the beginning,I'm sure.

Debbie Downer?No,more like Penny Pathetic

This is getting to be a real trend now.Me being depressed every Friday.Weekends are supposed to be fun!Not for me,I'm just feeling like there's this huge black cloud above my head, and no matter how much I try to stay positive, the week just works at my positivity like an axe,and by Friday I'm in such a state that my whole weekend is ruined.

I got my salary today, and was pleasantly surprised to see that I got a little bit of a raise. Now,in today's economic situation, that is a miracle in itself, but you know what?My raise is supposed to be R250.00,which isn't much, but is still a LOT better than nothing. But my happiness was short lived, when at the very end of my payslip,I saw the amount I would get out after my medical aid and everything was subtracted. My actual raise is only R30!Geez,I can't even buy 2 bottles of Coke with that!

After already feeling like a shithouse rat, this was just too much, and I burst out in tears...in my office...at 9 in the morning.I think my co-workers now think I'm crazy.

Well,their not wrong,I guess.

My sister and nephew are coming!

Yay!I haven't seen my big sister and my nephew since he was baptised the first weekend of November,so I think it's about time that we get together again.Ludwig (my nephew) is 7 months old now,so he is getting to that really cute stage where they sit up,try to crawl and are basically all around cute. Can't wait to see them, unfortunately they are only coming tomorrow afternoon, because my sister still has to work til tonight, and maybe tomorrow morning as well.It would've been awesome if they could've come tonight already, just to have someone new to talk to again.

Things I like,starting with 'T'

My Bloggy Friend,Ruggy at Adorably Distracted, challenged me to come up with 10 things I like/enjoy,that start with the letter 'T'.

My mind is like black hole at the moment, but lets see if I can conjure up some ideas.

1.Texting
I hate,hate,hate talking on a phone,but I love,love,love texting people,especially my best friend L

2.Tuna
On a warm summers' day,I like nothing better for lunch, than a tuna and mayo salad,or sometimes a tuna sandwich.I don't really like fish, but I love tuna

3.Television
I've always enjoyed watching TV,and when you're really bored,or you're just not in the mood for anything too strenuous, watching TV is the best thing to pass the time

4.Trains
Well, not this old type (I just liked the picture),but still,I've always loved trains, but in South Africa they have almost entirely gone out of use,and when you do see a train,it is really something special.I'm hoping my boyfriend and I can take a train trip up to visit his family in the north of South Africa at the end of the year, rather than flying or taking a bus

5.Toys
Even though I'm nearly 26,I still enjoy playing with my niece and nephews and their toys.I guess it reminds me of my childhood, and all the fun we used to have, and for that little while while you're playing with the toys, you get to forget about adult responsibilities

6.Tattoos
I adore tattoos, and would love to have a few,but I am always afraid I won't be able to decide on a tattoo I will be happy with for life.Meanwhile,I just admire other people's tats, and respect them for having the guts to go through with it

7.Tea
Well,to be more specific, the Long Island Iced Tea-variety.It tastes refreshing, and gets you into a 'happy place' pretty damn quickly

8.Tears
Ok,I don't know if it's just me,but I find a hot guy crying and looking sad to be the hottest thing ever.I suppose it brings out my natural instincts to take care of them or something

9.Trees
It might sound odd,but one of my favorite things in the world,is a tree.Nothing makes me happier than being in a place with lots of trees, where you can lie in the shade and read a good book.Trees give life, and not only that, they make everywhere they are look beautiful.I feel physically sick when I see a tree getting chopped down, but also feel an abundance of hope when a new tree is planted.I always recycle,in order to do my little part for nature

10.Thoughts
And last, but by no means least, thoughts.Good thoughts, bad thoughts, loving thoughts, sad thoughts,it really doesn't matter.I like 'em all. Why?Because every day we have to censor what we say and do,but no one can censor your thoughts, they are yours, and yours alone, and no matter how rich, poor, old or young you are,you are always entitled to them and can take them with you, wherever you may go

My birthday is nearly upon me

So I went to this site,to have a little fun with my birthdate, and find out all the fun facts surrounding it.Try it out for yourself.

Even my blood tells me to 'B Negative'

It's not my fault that I tend to be a naturally depressed and negative person,it's in my blood. My B- blood,to be exact.

And just to show it was meant to be,my mom and brother are both O+,my dad was B+,and both my sisters are B+ as well.

So you see?I'm unique, and was always meant to be the grumpy, sarcastic, pessimistic girl I am today.

Something interesting:

Blood group distribution in South Africa
The general distribution of blood groupings in South Africa is illustrated in the table below.

Group + — Total
O 38% 7% 45%
A 34% 6% 40%
B 9% 2% 11% * see!I'm unique! At least in South Africa
AB 3% 1% 4%
Total 84% 16% 100%

It is important to note that it may vary between specific regions and particular racial or ethnic groups.

The terms "universal donor" and "universal recipient" were coined when it was demonstrated that it is relatively safe to give O- blood to patients of any blood group, and that blood from all groups can be given to AB+ patients.

Recipient Donor AB+ is a universal recipient

O-; is a universal donor
Type O- O+ B- B+ A- A+ AB- AB+
AB+ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
AB- ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
A+ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
A- ♥ ♥
B+ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
B- ♥ ♥
O+ ♥ ♥
O- ♥

The chart above illustrates that group O blood is the most versatile.

Dark Hollow - the book I can't seem to finish

I've been reading the book 'Dark Hollow' by John Connolly, and even though it's really good,I just don't seem to have the time to just go lie down and read for a nice, long stretch of time in order to finish the book. It's a book I got at our public library, and I've already renewed it twice, and now it's 2 days late again. So I'm probably looking at a fine.Oh well, hopefully I can finish it tonight.Wish me luck!

A little bit of the traditional style houses built in L'Agulhas

PS. The shipwreck you see in the pictures,is that of the 'Meishu Maru 38'.

I live in a very beautiful country, and also in the most beautiful part of this beautiful country. So I like to show that off to people, because I know that lots of foreigners tend to believe that South Africa is all about apartheid and violence and basically all things bad.But we have lots going for us too.

Either way,I wanted to show you all some of the pictures that I took when we had a family get-together in September '08 in L'Agulhas,Western Cape. It's a seaside town, about 4 hours' drive from my town, but it was the ideal place for us all to meet, and we mostly chose it because it was only an hours' drive for my sister, whose baby was only 3 months old at the time.

We had an absolute blast, and I really hope we can do it very soon, but would love to do it somewhere on the West Coast this time, like Yzerfontein or Elands Bay.

The Absolutely GORGEOUS Loveology

I am constantly discovering new and really amazing blogs, especially by searching the blogrolls of the blogs I regularly visit.

So today, after looking at the blogs LoveMaegan has on her blogroll,I discovered this awesomely gorgeous photoblog,as well as thoughtblog (that's how I see it), Loveology.

Do yourself a favor, and go check it out.I don't know if everyone will like it,but this girl has an eye for everything beautiful!

My 3 Favorite People (except for my mother)

In bed together (lol).JC looks like he's in a totally different picture, all sideways
JC,trying to look cool with his beermug and limegreen beach buggie
The cutest couple (even though F is sporting the doofiest looking hairstyle, ever
Like I said,my 3 favorite people in the world!

I've talked about my best friend,L,before, and today I'm really, really missing her.We haven't seen each other in almost 7 months, and the strain is starting to show.I love that girl so much,it breaks my heart not seeing her as often as I want.

Even though I wasn't very fond of my school years, she was always there for me,and it was so cool to be able to just nip around the corner to each others' houses, and spend all afternoon just talking and hanging out.I really miss that.

Also, she and I now share a deeper bond, after both losing our fathers in 2007.Her father died in a car accident, and mine had a heart attack. It's really strange that us being so close, should go through very much the same heartache so closely timed together.

I can remember being so devistated for her when her father died, and she was actually with me when I heard that my father had died,so that meant a lot to me.

But enough sad stuff,or I'll burst out in tears...again.

She and her boyfriend started dating at the beginning of 1999,when we were in 10th grade. He is only a year older than us,but at the time,I hated him,and seriously couldn't see what she thought was so hot stuff about him.But luckily, through the years,he and I have become really great friends, and I absolutely love hanging out with him, because he is always full of action, and the life of the party.

When my boyfriend and I started dating, things between us four were a little awkward,to say the least.Let me explain. My boyfriend was my best friends' first boyfriend. She dumped him for her current boyfriend. My boyfriend had been really hurt by that, but now that we were together,I worked really hard to let them all get along, seeing as what happened is ancient business, and besides,I knew that my boyfriend, and my best friends' man, would get along like a house on fire,if they actually went to the trouble to get to know each other.

And I was right. As usual. They are now great buddies, that get up to all kinds of mischief when we get together.Their birthdays are even only 2 days apart.

Anyway, what I really am saying,is that these 2 people are my bestest friends in the whole wide world,as well as the coolest couple I know. They both are just so effortlessly good at everything they do.It is always inspiring.

I love you guys!

Sleep Talking

My sweetie, sleeping with Maya on his chest

My boyfriend is the most adorable thing when he's sleeping. He gets to sleep in like 5 minutes or less, and when he's asleep,it basically takes a stampede of some sort to wake him up.

I can manouver him whichever way I want to,and he will not even flinch, which sometimes makes for lots of fun if he goes to bed before me.In the beginning,I would get really scared while sleeping with him, because he doesn't move at all,and he sometimes looks as if he isn't breathing.Luckily I've realised he is just a very quiet sleeper.Except for the cutest freaking thing ever...his sleep talking.

And I'm not talking about just a few words, but sometimes a whole conversation. And he always ends his 'conversations' by rubbing my arm or back or something and chuckling and telling me "Don't worry, don't worry".This makes me think he basically has the same conversation in his sleep every time, because it always ends the same.

It is too adorable for words. This is just one of the many quirks he has that just make me love him even more.

Wednesday Weirdness

1.) If a natural disaster left thousands of people homeless, would you let a family of strangers stay in your house?

If they had a little baby, yes. With teenagers,I don't think so.There are already enough raging hormones (mine) in our house.

2.) How often do you watch porn?

About once every 2 months.Depends on my mood.

3.) How many people have naked or semi-naked pictures of you?

One.My boyfriend.

4.) When having sex with someone, have you ever fantasized about someone else? If yes, explain why you were thinking of someone else during sex.

No,because when I'm with my boyfriend,I don't think of anyone else, and I've been with him so long,I don't really remember what I was thinking during sex with the guys that came before him (pun intended).

5.) Is there ever an appropriate time to lie to someone and push yourself off as single when truthfully you're not?

Yes,if you're trying to get out of a speeding ticket, and a little flirting might do the trick.

6.) Who is one person who has changed your life and how did they change things for you?

My boyfriend, because he has shown me that I am worthy of unconditional love, and that I am beautiful to him,no matter what I think of myself. He has changed my entire outlook, because before him,I didn't believe in happily ever after, and now we are living together, and I definitely think we will be together forever.

7.) How comfortable are you in bed with your current significant other? Do they know all your kinks or do you tend to hold back? Why?

I am beyond comfortable. He knows I grind my teeth,he laughs at me when I snore,he doesn't mind it if I dribble a little spit on him during the night, etc. We are so compatible, because we don't hide any of our physical oddities from each other.

The Rats' Nest a.k.a. My Hair

My hair has always been a very sore point for me.Where my friends have the most beautiful, silky long hair you can imagine,I was 'blessed' with a curly mop of dry reddish/brown hair, that cannot be tamed. The brush or hair cream still has to be invented that can keep my hair under wraps.

Unfortunately,I haven't been blessed with incredible hair blowdrying skills either, and whenever I attempt to make my hair sleek and sexy,I somehow end up looking like Cameron Diaz's character in "Being John Malkovich".

Last night was another battle of the hair and comb.I shower each night before going to bed,and I just can't shower without washing my hair.Which is bad, because it actually dries out my already fragile hair.I condition my hair to death, but it really doesn't seem to be doing any good.

After the shower, comes the part I dread all day.The Combing of The Hair. For nearly 15 minutes,I have to pull and tug at my hair with the poor overworked comb,in order to get some semblance of neatness to my hair. After the horrible 15 minutes,my comb looks like it's been swallowed by a rat.Or at least is lying in a rats' nest.I swear I have more hair left on my comb afterwards, than some people have on their heads.Quite frankly,it amazes me sometimes that I have any hair left on my head at all.

Why,dear God,can't I have hair that looks like this?!

Because if my hair keeps acting up,this is the style I'm going to go for!I love this short platinum 'do,but I don't really think it will work for me.But a girl can dream, hey?
